Nutrition Supplements: Liquid, Tablet, or Gel?

Despite the marketing claims it is impossible for any one multivitamin to be “the best”. Vitamins Nutrition Supplements are formulated differently and there are big variations in solid versus liquid form, absorption, and purpose.

Liquid Vitamins (not to be confused with “Suspension Liquids”): minerals separate VERY easily, so they are the hardest to guarantee you will get the correct amount of every vitamin and mineral you need, unless it is dosed individually.

Tablets: Somewhat better because they have a more precise amount of the ingredients, but some people have more trouble digesting tablets, especially if they have digestive problems or lower stomach acid. However, most people do not drink enough water or eat them with food and almost half of the dose is passed straight through the system without ever being fully absorbed.

Capsules and softgels: Better from an absorption stand point because they have a certain amount of each vitamin and mineral that’s listed and they are absorbed by the stomach quickly and easily.

Aside from the form of delivery, the most important thing is to get a multivitamin from a company that can verify good quality (so you know you’re getting what it says). Make sure the distribution of ingredients is good (minerals around 100% of the RDA, etc).
