Canada vs. United States: Drug Costs.

It’s a well-excepted fact that some drugs are cheaper in Canada than the United States. There are lots of reasons for the price difference.
In Canada, the government has a ceiling or cap on the drug companies. This cap is on the amount that they can charge the pharmacies. Nationwide, this measure reduces the wholesale medication cost by about 5%. Canada has an organization called the Canada’s Patented Medicine Prices Review Board. They determine what the prices should be. This lowers the cost all the way through the system, right to the consumer. Drug stores and hospitals pay less so they don’t have to raise the prices to maintain margin.
