I’ve always had bodily issues. I’ve been overweight all my life and I can remember the kids poking fun of me at recess and the doctors telling me I need to lose weight. This struggle continued through not only my teenage years but also into my adulthood. A year ago I decided I couldn’t take it anymore so I began researching weight loss methods. I talked to my doctor and he recommended a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. At that point I was willing to try anything. I really didn’t understand what it meant to me but I accepted it anyway. After my surgery I was in a lot of pain, but the pain quickly went away and I began to see results. I lost a ton of weight, I was finally able to wear things I’d always wanted to, and best of all – I gained the self confidence I had always desired.
