How can i get rid of shyness when playing an instrument?
Well, i play the saxophone very gracefully everyone says that, but when i have to play alone i get really REALLY shy and start shaking i screw up in parts and play really fast and miss a beat!
my band teacher is really understanding when it comes to me since im always shy and quiet plus im the only girl that plays this wonderful instrument! I want to stop getting this feeling!
any ideas?

The biography of Albert Einstein describes how he felt shy playing violin for an audience. But soon, he lost himself into the wonderful notes that he had thoroughly practised.
Try the proven example. Try to practise well, get lost into music, to simply become ‘unavailable’ to be shy as a ‘person’!

Practice, practice, practice. The only way to get over that nervousness is to play in front of people as much as possible. I was in chorus in high school and used to be so nervous about auditioning for solos. I usually didn’t get them, but after auditioning in front of the whole choir (100+ people) several times, it got pretty easy.

The only way I found to get rid of this is to play in front of people. It sucks but it’s the only way I’ve found.

you really shouldn’t be shy.. i would die to know how to play an instrument.
go on the stage and be yourself. be confident..
play like how you want it to be.. the confidence will come naturally.
