is the flute an easy instrument to play?
im gonna play the flute for music class ![]()
Is it actually a simple instrument to play? I am terrible at music but i relly am fascinated into learning to play an instrument. ![]()
i guess my answer may put you off, but i have to say in my honest opinion that no musical instruments are easy to learn (ok maybe not recorder, that’s not too hard) for all wind instruments we need to form what we call an embouchure (mouth shape) to play the instrument. this embouchure takes times to form, and can actually be categorized into 3 main categories for band: flute air-reed embouchure, buzzing embouchure for all brasses, and single and double reeds for the rest of the woodwinds. for flute’s air-reed embouchure, it’s actually quite challenging to learn to form the teacher without a professional to guide you along. i’ve experienced that myself and regrettably wasted 2 years when i didnt have someone good to teach me. try to get a proficient player from your school band to teach/advise you or even the band instructor to do so. that way you’ll have an easier time trying to learn.one more thing is musicality (ability to read and perform scores) this is real challenge when learning music, i understand you claim to be terrible at music, the theory at first might kill you but after a while, after getting used to it, you’ll start finding it easier and easier and more joy when playing. have fun!

I actually play the flute and it takes a lot of dedication. But if you put your mind to it it becomes easy. The fingerings might be a little bit hard because you have to know which "E" fingering to play depending on where it is on the musical staff. There are many different notes,
(some of the fingerings are repeatitve for two notes say like D sharp and E flat) but as I said before you can do anything you put your mind too! Good luck with playing the flute!

yes!!!!!!!!!! it’s really really really easy! some people take a little longer to learn how to blow into it, but that’s the only semi hard part. it’s soooo much fun, and personally, i tried the sax last year too, and it was harder to blow into the sax than the flute. but, long story short, flute is AWESOME, go for it.
