What do you think of this business idea???

I just recently set up a bogus dental office and I’ve been charging cut-rate prices. I am astounded by how many patients have come in for an initial first visit.

I bought lots of dental chairs really cheap and I’ve hired several wannabe actors to portray dentists and assistants and I don’t pay them much at all. I got some goofy looking apparatus that could easily pass as X-Ray machines and cardboard pieces to finish that illusion. I got lots of weird looking dental instruments on e-bay and some fake diplomas for the walls. Patients are coming in like crazy because I only charge $9.95 for a check-up, including an X-Ray. The money is piling up. I’m kind of concerned about the follow up visits, when I will have to get the "dentists" to look more authentic. I have grossed almost $10,000 in my first month. I need some suggestions as to how to better satisfy my customers on their second and third visits. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated. Thank you!!!!

You might as well make it look real. Use a pair of pliers and yank out a tooth from someone, it might take a lot of strength though. Make sure you have the scrubs and all.

My manager fired me for no good reason!–owner supported me. What legal rights do I have (BC resident)?

I went to the owner about surgical instruments not being properly sterilized under 15min bag cycles.

This was AFTER I have talked to BOTH managers for several months…and them not doing anything about it. (All they have to say, is "clean the instruments properly", to the girl who works during the weekdays—as I’m working on weekends–and YES she knows how to sterilize them properly..she just chooses NOT to…because it’s 3X faster to clean her way)

The manager SCREAMED in a dental clinic (15mins to closing time–as I was cleaning the instruments)..told me ‘GET YOUR A** IN THIS ROOM NOW!"…and proceeded to yell at me.

She screams at me telling me that I deal with her or the other manager FIRST if I have a problem, that they are "seniors" here (HMM…IVE BEEN GOING TO THEM ABOUT THE SAME AND ONLY ISSUE FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS…INTERESTING THAT SHE WOULD SAY THAT)…

and I told her to "calm down, you have no right to scream at me"…she yells back "I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO SCREAM AT YOU"….for which this is the ONLY time I raised my voice and said "NO, you have NO right to scream at me"…and she told me to get out of ***HER*** clinic (she is not full manager, nor is she owner"…

The screaming happened 5 minutes after I had told the owner (THE OWNER LEFT RIGHT BEFORE SHE SCREAMED)…who was DISGUSTED that the manager would not do something about my complaint of improperly sterilized surgical instrument. And was extremely upset that I was upset after she raised her voice at me LAST week…(about the instruments….what a surprise!)

The owner has been my dentist for 13 years now…

I have worked at this clinic for 4 years (6 months I had volunteered)…I have worked hard EVERY single day that I had to work! I put my soul into that place..I’ve done over-time and not put it in sometimes because that’s how much I care about everyone in there (except the manager….who is racist towards anyone who’s not Caucasian…but don’t get me started on that…that’s another big issue)

I have the support of everyone who works on the weekends…since I help everyone out (I dental assist, so that assistants can go on their break..or help hygienists by developing or bringing them their x-rays…or assisting during surgeries with a periodontist -gum surgeon-…the list goes on)

the manager told me to not bother showing up tomorrow (sunday) …I need the money, she can’t just let me go like that, can she?!!?!?!?

PLEASE READ THIS: If a patient shows up at our dental clinic and says he/she got a OSTEOMYELITIS (bone infection leading to death of bone tissue….can be transfered through blood alone–doesn’t need to be an actual surgery) ..they could sue the clinic..and first person they’ll blame is ME!!!

I deserve to be treated fairly…and respected when I have ALWAYS shown respect. I have even bought lots of goodies for the clinic to enjoy.

I was once offered a job by that gum surgeon at my clinic…she’s a UBC professor for 15 years..and med-school entrance judge for 10 years…she LOVES my work..so does the owner, and another general dentist. I had only declined her offer to be a chair-side assistant, because my mom told me not to..and I respect my mom. The surgeon was pleased to hear my reason.
I’m not a minor..I’m 20, and I’m a university student (and was asked to skip grade 11 and half of grade 12 …by my principle)

Thanks Amy, I was going to go to work tomorrow and try and get a written note stating that I had been fired and for what reasons…I’m interested in knowing what she writes…but she’s not in all the time….the only reason why she’s been showing up on weekends, is because her bf dumped her (like her husband divorced her)…and now she’s bitter and distracts herself with work.

I do act professionally in front of my peers..and when the manager was screaming, I only raised my tone of voice once (not even really a scream)..

The owner would definitely not take her side in this..I know that for a fact. So I’m not worried.

You need to speak to the owner, to first ascertain if the person that fired you actually has the authority to do so.
If this is the case then you can request the reasons for being fired IN WRITING, they can only fire you on the spot like that if what they write constitutes gross misconduct under your contract terms, please look at these closely.
You can then proceed on the basis of what they write, if they say its not gross misconduct then you should be entitled to not only keep your job but go through a disciplinary hearing where both your actions and your managers actions are examined by the owner and anyone else relevant.
If they dont follow the correct procedure then you can persue the company for unfair dismissal and you will require proper legal advice on your particular case.

earth science homework help!?

Question: Describe three situations in which the use of instruments enables you to gather more information about the environment than would be possible to with your unaided senses.

I think I know one situation.. which is, if you wanted to compare your skeleton with that of a Martians. Your senses would give you some direct observations like feeling the bones in your arm & comparing them with those in the Martians’ arm, but if you compare x-ray photographs of both bodies, you would get better information & more. .

Please help ! Thank You!!

I’m not very good with the science area, but what do you think about something with temperature? I mean you could always feel and take an estimate, but a thermometer or some other temperature device would give you an exact answer.

I’ve never looked at a resume for a dental assistant but I’ll take a crack at it. Overall, it’s in pretty good shape but I would change a few things. Your qualifications are fine but you have a problem with the language and tone. Typically, you want your points to be consistent and show action, skill, experience, etc. In your case, your first two are fine…Experienced in….Skilled in…..But the rest are expressed more like things you’re doing or might do. As an example, you could change "Provide personal oral care instructions" to simply ‘Provided personal oral care instructions" but I would go a little beyond that.

For a dental assistant, the interpersonal skills are just as important as the technical skills since you are the main contact for most dental visits and will typically have more contact with the patients than the dentist. Therefore, you may want to emphasize that aspect of your resume when you make your points. Back to our oral care instructions example, you could change it to: "Regularly worked one on one with patients providing detailed oral care instructions and discussing good oral hygiene practices." That might be a bit too much but you get the idea.

Also, you could fill-in a little more detail for your qualifications such as include what was accomplished or the benefits these skills will bring to the practice. In other words, you want to sell yourself or show what you bring to the table besides just a series of technical skills.

You can also include other skills besides your dental experience as long as it’s applicable to the job. You kind of buried the translation aspect of your experience under your clinic work. If this was my resume and I was looking for work in LA, I would put being bilingual as one of the main points since that might be very handy. The same goes for any other skills or experience that might be applicable.
