How to find classical music for specific combinations of instruments?

Is there a website that allows you to search for pieces of classical chamber music which use specific combinations of instruments?

Note that all I need is the name of the piece and the composer. For example, you might type in "oboe, violin, viola, cello" and get "Mozart: Oboe Quartet In F Major, K. 370" as a response.

Thanks!

Try this website, it’s a bunch of chamber music databases. I haven’t tried it myself, but you may have some luck. www.acmp.net/fcm.shtml

Other than that, try to access the library search engines online of performing arts schools. Some may allow you to search their databases. The Hartt School of Music’s Allen Library has a pretty good search engine, you start there.

Also give the Library of Congress a try:

What 2 instruments would you like to learn?

I want to know how to play the piano but i find it boring.
When i hold the guitar and mess around with it i have great fun (with the guitar).

My 2 chosen instruments are probably the jazz flute and bass guitar.

play the piano.. i did started when i was 5 and stopped when i was 14. and I’m 17 now and starting again its great… it teaches you how to read music which helps with every other instrument because sometimes when people learn the guitar all they do is read tabs.

My suggestion for another instrument is either the guitar (but learn how to read notes not just tabs) or the saxophone, most likely alto. It is a really fun instrument to be able to play. You can play classical or jazz. And in my opinion, the bass guitar is for people that cant learn the guitar or don’t have the dedication for a harder one.

Alto saxophones usually start at around 400. I had Jean Baptiste as my first one from age 8-17. But i recently bought a professional Yamaha. The saxophone is an instrument that gives you great potential to get better, just some advice.

What is the best software for music creation without needing to record instruments?

I’m currently nursing a broke hand, so any and all instruments are not an option. I am in a bind however and need to meet a deadline. Is there a primer software (mar related) that is really good at turning instrument samples into original pieces of tracks that can be mixed?

Fruity Loops is a fun sampler/drum machine/editing program that you can spend countless hours with. Here’s a screenshot: http://www.matthewdoucette.com/musiccomposition/fl3.gif

Pro-53 is a great synth program too. Here’s that link:

I have both programs, and they’re really fun. You can try them out for a while before they expire. Download.com has both available. You can also record the sound produced with any program on your windows sound recorder once configured correctly. Email me if you need help with that.

How can i get more instruments in garage band for free?

I’m am addicted to music, have a heart and soul for it, but not the money to supply what i need. Please can someone please tell me how to get more instruments for garage band, torrents, anything just a way to get free instruments.

I only got to play around with Garage Band for 2 days on a borrowed comp so I don’t know what loops it has.
You need to sign up but the loops on this site are free.

http://www.macloops.com/

They work on Acid Xpress so the free loop pack from that site should work on GB.

Just download the loop pack – you don’t need the program.

How hard is the flute compared to other instruments?

I’ve played for 8 years but I’m interested in how hard it is compared to other instruments. I’ve only ever played flute (though I could play a few tunes on recorder and I do enjoy blowing tunes in panpipes) so I can’t compare it.

I play piano and flute, and I can honestly say that the piano is harder, because you have to concentrate on both hands. I think guitar is harder too, but I’m not very good so I’m not sure if that counts. Bye.

What instruments are in the song Halo by Beyonce?

We have to perform this song in music and I play the drums but what are the other instruments? And if you have any tips for playing the drums in Halo please tell me! Thanks.

Mostly piano, I think. My roommate figured it out on her piano, and it sounds so pretty! I think it’s fairly easy to play too.

What are some instruments that I should use for my forty day project?

I have this project for world history honors in which we have to provide forty examples for a topic we choose. We have to do this for four marking periods, so please help. Please don’t give an instrument like ‘guitar’, or ‘trumpet’. It needs to be something specific like ‘resonator guitar’, because a lot of instruments have unknown origins or too broad of an origin. Thanks, in advance.

This site looks interesting, it’s about antique instruments:
