Are guys that play an instrument attractive?

I’m a guy who plays the piano. I can play any type of music, because i’ve been playing for like six years. So, do you girls think a guy who plays the piano is attractive. Also what instrument do you think I should play next?

I think so. At my school talent show, a boy played the piano, and sang, and all the girls at my school went wild. There was also a rock band too, the lead singer/guitarist, and rhythm guitarist now have a fanclub. A girl I know actually CHASED a boy in my band class that plays the saxophone during P.E. Then again, we are talking 7th and 8th grade girls, so I don’t really know. Hope this helps. :-)

What kind of musical instruments produce sound readily associated with gloom and sorrow?

When these instruments play, you know that the mood is sad, melancholic and sorrowful. I’m rearranging some music, and employing such would improve the atmosphere of the music. I know harps are one of them. What are the others?

Cello for sure. I always use it to score sad parts of films, yet I find it’s sounds to be beautiful.

Cold outdoor gig – Dec. 19th – What do we need to do for the instruments & equipment?

My band is playing at the Dallas Convention Center on an outdoor stage. Is there anything we can do / need to do to protect the guitars, drums, bass, etc? What about the pro audio gear? I know we’ll have to let them ‘normalize’ to the temperature before we tune and play… Are there any dangers?

well as long as the temperature change isn’t to drastic as in warm to cold too fast and vice versa your usually alright with your instruments, and it’s gonna be mountain air dry if it’s not snowing, god forbid, so investing in some in case humidifiers wouldn’t be a bad idea, keep everything in the case till the last minute and right back in when your done, as far as the audio gear goes it likes the cold and dry, it just don’t like snow and water,

What would be a reasonable instrument switch?

I am a flute player and a freshmen in high school. I feel like there aren’t as many opportunities for flute players in the music world as other instruments. Is there another instrument that is less common that would be a wise switch for me and my future in music?

I am a flutist as well, and I just recently switched to the oboe. I’d been very reluctant about the switch, but my band director finally talked me into it. And boy am I glad she did! In the first 5 months I’ve been playing, I’ve already been accepted into two major honor bands and had SO many more opportunities than I had while playing the flute. The oboe is an unique instrument, and I think it would be great if you could expand your musical repertoire in that way. If you don’t think the oboe is the way to go, you could also try the bassoon or the French horn, both of which are not commonly seen in bands, especially bassoons. Good luck with your music!

I don’t think so, but I’m fairly certain you will need to learn how to read music and music theory.

What do I need if I want to start a DJ business?

I want to start a DJ business, in parties, weddings, etc. I want to know what instruments, equipment and everything I knew to start, how much would it be, and any good website to find my answer.
Thanks

You need to work with a DJ company for a while before you go out on your own. Then you will know what you need to start your own business. But if you think you can just start a business because you think it would be cool, then you are sadly mistaken. Unless you learn to read crowds and understand how it all works, you will be out of business within a year.

Sorry for the harsh words, but I want to make sure you know what you are getting into.

What is the best instrument for carpel tunnel sufferers?

I think I am developing carpel tunnel in my wrist because it become extremely tired (and a little sore) when playing piano. When I try tapping my left and right hand fingers, my left hand cannot keep up with my right at all. So is there another instrument I can play that is easy on the wrist?

I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both hands, very severe, and I had to give up playing the double keyboard organ, which I dearly loved. I kept looking for another instrument, but guitar didn’t work for me; neither did the Irish penny whistle or even the bodhran (Celtic/Irish drum). But, I found the bowed psaltery at Bristol Renaissance Faire and fell in love. The bow is of lightweight ash, so it’s easy to hold and use. You can place the instrument on your lap or a stand or support it with your other arm, which is what I do. It is so easy to learn, especially if you’ve had prior experience with an instrument such as piano or organ though it’s not lie either of them.

My psaltery is from Unicorn Strings and is so much better than most others of its kind. I’ll place some links for you as I find them. // I found them right away!
http://unicornstrings.com/

You can see someone double-bowing here:

Unicorn Strings’ psalteries sound better than this, but it demonstrates the ease with which they can be played right away:

If you can hum a tune or pick it out on a piano, you surely can play a psaltery. Even on days when my right hand is numb, I generally can play many songs though my left arm can stiffen due to fibromyalgia. People are inevitably fascinated by the sound of this instrument, the "voice" of which varies with the seasons and weather changes, from crystalline to "throaty".
