Is the guitar a relatively easy instrument to teach yourself?
Is the guitar a relatively easy instrument to teach yourself? I would like to learn how to play an instrument and am looking at the guitar. Would I be able to teach myself without too much of a problem?
I’m also considering piano, so comments on that would also be welcome. Thanks!
In all honesty, it has been a challenge for me. I’ve been playing for two years, and I’m still only an intermediate. I’m just starting to sound ok at it. I play a lot of black and thrash metal, which has complex rhythms and solos. I am also self-taught, meaning I have never had any formal lessons, so thats also another factor as well. I went my own way because I want to be completely original and not be influenced by other players. If you just wanna play some simple songs, however, it’ll probably be fairly easy. its just a matter of setting the time aside to practice often enough.

What instrument do you know how to play?
What instrument do you know how to play? If you don’t know how to play any instrument then what instrument do you want to learn how to play? I know how to play the violin, recorder, and some clarinet.
I play the clarinet (and bass clarinet because they are basically the same thing), and I used to play the piano. I wish I knew how to play the guitar. I’ve wanted to play the guitar ever since I saw the movie Freaky Friday (With Lindsay Lohan) with my mom when i was like, 10 or 11. She SAID that she would give me a guitar when I turned 12 and I turned 14 this month and still have not seen that guitar! : (
Oh well! I still love my mommy!

what equipment would a captain in the 17-1800s take aboard their ship?
i already have canned food, fresh beef, beer, a large box of stationary, charts, instruments, sketched maps and weapons. i just need a a bit more equipment that youd think they would take
They didn’t have canned food back then. Beef was heavily salted and had to be steeped in fresh water before being cooked and eaten. They didn’t call seaman’s drink beer; it was called grog. The captain had some wine. Around 1800 sailing ships took along limes to prevent scurvy. You also omitted fresh drinking water, compass, sextant, nautical almanac, musical instruments (they had singing and dancing in the evenings) bible, and cat o’ nine tails.

How do I go about finding quality wholesale suppliers?
I have been working on building a custom script script for an online store. Once it’s done and been through all the tests, I want to use it to open a couple different online stores. I have ideas to help me promote the sites and help people remember the names of the stores. But none of that is going to be relevant if I can’t provide quality products and good prices. Can somebody tell me how I can go about find quality suppliers of wholesale products. In particular, I am looking for musical instruments and related products for the one store and eco-friendly products for the other.
Try:
http://www.esources.co.uk/
You will find all the verified wholesale suppliers you need there.

What is most recently invented device/instrument from Iran used all round the world & when was it inventented?
All the talk recently about history and scientific inquiry by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has me wondering. What sort of creativity the place he grew up in blessed the world with in recorded history, especially anything recent and widely used elsewhere.
I am looking for a tangible technology – not a literary device – but an actual mechanical, electrical, or electronic device.
Chemical processes, like recipes, don’t really count. Everyone has them, just as everyone eats.
It should have some practical use. I do not really count a crossword puzzle or Rubik’s cube as practical, really.
It does not have to be something expensive or impressive to count. For instance, I consider a compass, a lock, and a battery cell all useful devices.
I don’t really consider a plate or a vase a device because they do not seem like an invention.
I would consider a pitcher or wineskin a device because it can be used to carry water long distances – and water is essential to human life.
Give newest, please!
An Iranian woman was presented with a medal and cash award in 2004 for an invention using 100% cotton as insulating material in place of (dangerous) asbestos. See the link. As with most countries, there is no shortage of bright minds there despite a government that likely does not reflect the true will of the people because many candidates for elective office are excluded for political reasons by those in power. Let’s hope that one day the Iranians will be free, and soon.

How do composers write music for each instrument if each instrument is limited by musical scales?
What if a composer writes a composition for an orchestra that has trumpets and flutes and they both have different music scales?
Since those instruments can’t be played in a chromatic scale, what would happen if the trumpet was in the key of Bb and the flute was in the key of G?
In this particular case, do you buy more instruments that are in different keys?
But trumpets and flutes can play chromatic scales! So they simply transpose the key (in your example, if the actual key of the music was C, the trumpets would be reading in D and the flutes in A).
However, it used the be the way you describe – I think flutes have been chromatic forever, but trumpets (and other brass instruments like horns) used to be able to play in only one key. So the performers did have to have instruments in multiple keys, and never had accidentals in their parts. They didn’t play very much though… usually a few notes with the timpani and that’s about it. You’ll also notice that older music is all written in the same few keys; C, D, B-flat for example. You didn’t see key signatures like G-sharp minor in those days, because nobody had a trumpet that could play it!

Hi, sleep apnea. cpap machines. Has anyone experienced fluid build up in lungs using humidifier??
Using a full face mask with a resmed "spirit" auto cpap with humidifier (built-in). I find that I am sleeping on my left side. I stopped using the machine about 12 months ago. I have very recently became extremely short of breath. X-ray has shown that I have a build-up of fluid, with partial lung collapse and consolidation. Fluid was extimated at approx 2 litres (2/3 of lung capacity.) two attempts to drain the lung via needle in my back resulted in 800ml. then 170ml. I was then referred to a specialist who will use an exploratory instrument to look into my lungs then attempt to drain the remaining liquid. This is to happen next thursday, 4thy October, 07. The first attempts were done "blind" The next will be done with ultrasound assistance. Done one day stay overnight for observation. Has anyone had or heard of the build up of fluid, possible from the humidifier, in conjunction with cpap machines. Doctors are totally non committal at this point.Iam a fairly big fellow, 106Kg. 70 year
Ok, you stopped using your home CPAP unit 12 month ago, and yet, you think that the humidifer somehow caused your fluid build up??????
NO WAY!
What you are discribing is fluid between the lung and the thorasic cavity. There are some very serious causes that create this fluid buildup…and I am gonna let the Doctor be the bearer of that news, once he knows…He will find out cause they are gonna take samples of that fluid to the lab and look it over.
Now, about your CPAP…USE IT!
It has a tendancy to reduce work of breathing, especially in situations like the one you discribed. And you will sleep better, feel more rested, and wont have that sleepy state come over you during the middle of the day….
And as for "fluid build up using the humidifer", I suspect what you are worried about is "rain out"…that is, where the air coming into the machine is warmed and humidifed at a temperature slightly warmer than body temperature, and it comes out to a COLD hose, and the air cools, loosing some moisture…A good example is dew on the grass in the morning…
Don’t worry…all the humidity does is sooth a dry throat, caused by the volume of air and pressure to the lungs….So relax…use the CPAP…get better rest….feel better…

What is the easiest woodwind instrument to learn?
I’m an amateur pianist and I’m 38. I love woodwinds though I have no experience playing any wind instrument? Which is the easiest and wich the hardest to learn and am I too old to start these instruments?
I’m in the same situation (I’m 17), I already play piano as well as guitar and drums, but I want to learn a woodwind instrument. I’m in my school marching/concert band so I’m well aquainted and surrounded by woodwind players. Everyone tells me that alto saxophone is the easiest, and I wouldn’t mind learning it. The only problem is that reeds are harder than they look. Personally I’d say that the flute is the easiest, you just have to work on your lip formation to blow sound in and across the hole on the mounth piece (it didn’t take me that long). My friend who is first chair flute in our band (out of 7) helped me and now I can produce a pretty good sound from a flute. I wish you well on your journey ^_^
